Position Summary
The Laboratory Department is currently seeking 2 Temporary Part-time Non-Registered Technologists.
Duties and Responsibilities - Working under the supervision of an MLT
- Prepare samples for diagnostic testing
- Load analyzers
- Perform testing
- Maintenance of equipment
- Calibration of equipment

Department/Unit/Program Description
The Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) Laboratory is provincially accredited by the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare and provides the following onsite services: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Phlebotomy and Electrocardiograms. In addition to the onsite services, RMH has partnered with other Ontario Laboratories such as Public Health, Dynacare and Peterborough Regional Health Centre, to facilitate a larger scope of testing.
The laboratory is committed to the provision of a quality laboratory service that ensures delivery of clinically relevant, accurate and timely diagnostic services. The welfare of the patient and respect for the dignity, privacy and independence of the individual is paramount at all times. The laboratory supports the hospital-wide vision to be leaders in the development and delivery of a dynamic and integrated health care system by establishing excellence, efficiency and quality in all areas of the quality management system.
Essential Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited MLT program and registered for CAMPLR (The Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators) Exam or Internationally Educated Technologist participating in an approved Bridging Program.
- Knowledge of relevant accreditation standards, health care regulations, and knowledge in medical laboratory theory, principles and practices.
- Understands occupational health and safety legislation.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Hours of Work
Must be available to work 8 hour shifts, days, evenings, and nights, including weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per OPSEU Collective Agreement.
