SDC Services is looking for an experienced Finish Excavator Operator to join our Earthworks division for current and upcoming projects.
This role is ideal for operators who specialize in fine grading, precision excavation, and final trim work, and who take pride in producing accurate, high-quality results in fast-paced civil construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators for finish grading, trenching, and detailed excavation work
- Perform final grade and slope work to project specifications using GPS and/or laser systems
- Excavate for roads, building pads, and underground utilities
- Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and elevation drawings
- Work closely with surveyors, foremen, and ground crews to ensure accuracy
- Maintain clean, safe, and efficient work areas
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Follow all company safety policies and Alberta OHS regulations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience operating excavators in earthworks or civil construction
- Proven ability in finish work / fine grading
- Experience with:
- Reading grade stakes and site plans
- Strong understanding of site grading, elevations, and drainage
- Ability to work in fast-paced, outdoor environments
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
- Valid driver’s license
- CSTS & WHMIS certifications
