About the Position
LearnStar Educational Programs Inc. is seeking a dependable, enthusiastic and caring Homework Helper to join our after-school team at Eastside Elementary.
The Homework Helper will support students with their homework and educational activities while helping create a safe, welcoming and positive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and contributing to their academic and personal development.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with homework and other educational activities.
- Help gather and organize students at designated homework tables.
- Follow direction from the Site Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive environment.
- Serve as a professional and positive role model for students.
- Communicate respectfully with students, families, school staff and LearnStar team members.
- Assist with daily program setup, organization and cleanup.
- Follow all LearnStar policies, procedures and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- English communication skills and the ability to assist students with English-language homework.
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting is considered an asset.
- Reliable, responsible and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patient, encouraging and committed to supporting children’s learning and development.
- Available Monday to Friday
- Current First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
Additional Information
Paid training will be provided. This position follows the school calendar and runs from September until the final day of school in June. There will be an opportunity to return for the following school year.
