- Prepare and file Canadian trademark applications;
- Review correspondence from CIPO and foreign associates and prepare clear reporting letters to clients;
- Conduct trademark searches using the Canadian trademark database and common law sources to assess registrability and availability, and draft related search reports;
- Draft and report on responses to Examiner’s Reports from CIPO;
- Maintain, organize, and update docketing records and deadlines;
- Support senior agents and lawyers with Canadian and foreign opposition and expungement proceedings;
- Assist with file management, electronic filing/spiking, pre-bills, and precedent maintenance; and
- Contribute to other trademark and administrative tasks as needed.

5+ years of experience as a trademark clerk, paralegal, or searcher;

Postsecondary education;

Progress toward a Class 3 license as a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent in Training issued by CPATA is an asset;

Exceptional attention to detail;

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities;

Confidence managing deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal docketing software, preferably PATTSY; and

Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, but not required.

The starting salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise in trademark practice. In addition to salary, employees are supported through ongoing learning opportunities, mentorship, and opportunities for career development within the firm.
