The Centre for Faculty Development (CFD) is a partnership between Unity Health Toronto and the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine. The CFD supports the continuing academic development of health professionals through consultation, design, implementation and evaluation of programming and supports, including workshops, longitudinal certificate programs, coaching, consultations, resources, communities of practice and other educational initiatives.
The CFD is committed to supporting the development of educators, learners, leaders, scholars and advocates in their multiple roles and activities in health professions education. It is recognized nationally and internationally for exceptional programming, inclusive partnerships, knowledge mobilization, and scholarship that advances the field of faculty development.
The Centre serves a broad and inclusive faculty development community across Unity Health Toronto, the University of Toronto, affiliated teaching hospitals, and local, national and international partners.

The Centre supports the academic development of these individuals and institutions by providing leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of faculty development programs, while fostering collaboration, community building, and capacity development across the health system.

The Manager, Centre for Faculty Development, will provide leadership, direction, and innovation in:
- Growing and maintaining strategic relationships and partnerships across Unity Health Toronto, the University of Toronto, affiliated hospital sites, and local, national and international collaborators
- Leading the implementation of strategies that ensure the delivery of high-quality faculty development programs and initiatives to diverse audiences
- Supporting the Centre’s strategic plan, operational priorities, and reputation through quality improvement, evaluation, and impact reporting
- Providing financial stewardship and operational oversight for programs, resources, and departmental budgets
- Establishing, coaching and mentoring a high-performing team culture grounded in excellence, collaboration, respect and continuous learning
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in the maintenance and growth of the Centre’s partnerships, programs, and strategic initiatives across all University of Toronto affiliated hospital sites.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop, implement and monitor the Centre’s strategic plan, annual objectives, and alignment with Unity Health Toronto and Temerty Faculty of Medicine priorities.
- Lead the delivery, continuous improvement, and evaluation of faculty development seminars, workshops, courses, and longitudinal programs across multiple sites and audiences.
- Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospital leaders, university partners, program teams, faculty, and national and international collaborators.
- Prepare progress, impact, and other reports for internal and external partners, including annual reporting and academic review materials.
- Provide operational and human resources leadership to the CFD team, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Lead business development, marketing and communications activities to increase awareness of the Centre’s work, strengthen the user experience, and support service agreements and custom programming opportunities.
- Oversee the Centre’s online presence and related systems, including website updates, registration processes, online payment tools, and learning management supports.
- Manage departmental financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation, while identifying opportunities for revenue generation and cost savings.
- Participate as an active member of hospital-, university-, national- and international-based leadership and planning committees to advance education strategy and the CFD’s positioning as a leader in faculty development.
- Ensure space, bookings, contracts, stipend roles, and related operational processes effectively support programming and service delivery.
- Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned, while upholding patient and employee safety, confidentiality, and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, MBA, or a related discipline required
- Minimum 4–6 years of leadership and management experience, including experience in an academic health sciences setting required
- Knowledge of instructional design, pedagogy, scholarship of teaching and learning, and faculty development required
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and foster an effective, collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Proven ability to collaborate across functional areas, lead complex internal and external projects, and build consensus among multiple stakeholders
- Strong financial planning, budgeting, and operational management skills
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, website tools such as WordPress, and learning management systems
- Ability to work independently and decisively, while exercising sound judgment about when to seek consultation and team engagement
- Knowledge of healthcare delivery in Ontario and medical or health professions education environments is an asset
- Change leadership experience is an asset
