Stone Countertop Polisher / Fabrication TechnicianJob Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Stone Countertop Polisher to join our countertop fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for polishing, finishing, and refining stone countertop surfaces to meet high-quality craftsmanship standards. This role requires precision, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality control to ensure exceptional finished countertops for residential and commercial projects. The Polisher will work closely with fabricators, CNC operators, and installers to maintain efficiency, safety, and production standards in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate polishing machines, grinders, routers, and hand tools to achieve high-quality finishes on stone countertops and edges
- Polish and finish materials including quartz, granite, marble, porcelain, and other engineered stone surfaces
- Perform edge polishing, sink cutout finishing, seam preparation, and surface refinements according to fabrication specifications
- Read shop drawings, measurements, and fabrication layouts accurately to determine polishing requirements
- Inspect finished countertops for chips, scratches, uneven polishing, and other quality concerns before installation or delivery
- Use measuring tools and gauges to verify accuracy and ensure countertops meet company quality standards
- Assist fabrication staff with assembly, handling, packaging, and preparation of completed countertops for transport and installation
- Maintain polishing equipment and ensure tools are kept in proper working condition
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain cleanliness and organization within the fabrication shop
- Safely move and handle heavy stone slabs and finished countertop pieces using proper lifting techniques and equipment
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in stone countertop fabrication or polishing preferred
- Ability to read fabrication drawings, measurements, and technical specifications accurately
- Strong mechanical knowledge of fabrication tools, polishing systems, and hand tools
- Familiarity with quartz, granite, marble, and porcelain countertop materials
- Understanding of polishing finishes, edge profiles, and countertop quality standards
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift heavy materials safely
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on craftsmanship and quality control
- Warehouse, packaging, and inventory experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team
Work Environment
- Fast-paced countertop fabrication shop environment
- Exposure to stone dust, water-fed polishing equipment, and fabrication machinery
- Use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear required
Pay: $19.00-$33.00 per hour
