As the successful candidate, you will receive, store and distribute goods and supplies to ensure the production of high-quality food offerings while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment and maintaining the stocking of adequate food supplies on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate will be an essential member of the TMU Food Services Team. As the successful candidate, you will be part of TMU Eats commitment to local sourcing and sustainability, and commitment to promote fresh, wholesome, sustainably sourced food for the campus community.
- Placing food, beverage and supply orders as needed; receiving and storing all incoming goods and supplies in appropriate storage areas.
- Checking items received against order sheet and invoices; signs delivery slips if correct; reporting errors and/or changes in deliveries to the Chef and/or Manager.
- Monitoring stock on hand in order to determine supply requirements; recommends orders; contacting suppliers in absence of Chef/ Manager and ensures that all stations are properly merchandised and stocked with products.
- Ensuring stock is rotated correctly as failure to do so can cause a moderate monetary or material loss if products/items expire.
- Performing the physical inventory count for storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers as requested by management.
- Cleaning and maintaining storeroom and storage areas, loading dock, refrigerators and freezers; ensures receiving hallway is unobstructed; empties and changes waste receptacles; ensures the safety of others when storing chemical and cleaning supplies.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a secondary school diploma and a minimum of one year related experience in the Food Services Industry.
- Toronto Public Health Food Handlers or Recognized Serve Safe Certification is an asset.
- Experience receiving, storing, loading and distributing of goods to designated areas.
- Familiarity with various kitchen equipment and usage required to assemble equipment and perform minor repairs as required.
- Basic math skills are required to check items received against order sheets and invoices and monthly inventory counts.
- Good communications skills are required to interact with suppliers when receiving orders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills, including tact and diplomacy, to ensure efficient and effective support for members of the TMU community.
- Demonstrated record of attendance and reliability is required.

Please note: there is a moderate level of physical effort required to perform the responsibilities of the role; this involves carrying or moving weights (inventory and equipment) between and including 30 pounds (lbs) for short periods of time.
Pay: $43,000.00-$47,000.00 per year
