Summary:
This role is accountable for the day-to-day operational leadership of our Machine Shop and will also handle estimating.
Managerial Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Machine Shop employees including hiring, training and monitoring performance.
- Coordinate with leadership to ensure that production schedules are well communicated to the shop personnel, and jobs are efficiently completed.
- Identify the most efficient programs/processes to reduce the amount of set-ups, scrap, cost of tooling being used, and increase throughput.
- Ensure preventative maintenance policies are adhered to and that unscheduled repairs take place in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
Estimating Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering blueprints, specifications and other data to prepare accurate time, cost, material and labour estimates to successfully win projects.
- Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and the most cost-effective solution is captured and quoted.
Requirements:
- Journeyman machinist certification.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role within a Machine Shop.
- Must have experience with manual and CNC mills and lathes, preferably in a low volume job shop/repair setting.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and have rigging experience.
- Mastercam/CAD experience would be an asset.
Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
