We are seeking a motivated student with an interest or background in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields to support programs and digital operations at GDS. This temporary position will involve assisting with community programs serving youth, newcomers, and seniors while primarily focusing on technology support, digital systems, and IT-related tasks within the organization.
The successful candidate will help maintain and organize digital systems, assist with basic technical support, support participants with technology and digital literacy needs, and contribute to improving the organization’s overall digital operations. The role will also include assisting staff with program coordination, digital record keeping, and technology setup for workshops and community activities.
Duties
- Provide basic IT and technical support for staff, volunteers, and program participants
- Assist with computer setup, troubleshooting, software installation, and device organization
- Help maintain and organize digital files, records, attendance tracking, and program data
- Support participants with basic computer skills and digital literacy assistance
- Assist with technology setup for programs, workshops, presentations, and events
- Help improve and organize digital systems and administrative processes within the organization
- Assist with program coordination and day-to-day operational support
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support community initiatives and program delivery
Qualifications
- Current student or experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields preferred
- 'Youth only"
- Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and general digital tools
- Basic troubleshooting and technical support skills are an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly and approachable individual who enjoys working with the community
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working with newcomer, immigrant, and African communities is considered a strong asset
- Ability to communicate in additional languages (e.g., French, Somali, Arabic, Amharic, or others) is an asset
Pay: $15.00 per hour
