Electrical Field Services Representative
Location: Vancouver, BC — Full-time, permanent
The opportunity
Torus Talent is partnering with an established multidisciplinary consultancy to hire an Electrical Field Services Representative for their Vancouver office. Our client delivers building projects across the commercial, institutional, and public sectors, and this role sits within a collaborative, multi-discipline construction administration group.
In this role, you'll act as the eyes on site for the design team — making sure electrical systems are built to specification, code, budget, and schedule. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on electrical field experience paired with a solid working knowledge of adjacent building systems: structural, mechanical, and architectural.
What you'll do
Represent the design team in the field, verifying that construction aligns with design intent, applicable codes, budget, and schedule. You'll coordinate day to day with designers, subconsultants, clients, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, utility providers, and site staff, and support construction-phase planning through constructability reviews, sequencing, and scheduling.
You'll own the electrical side of construction administration from tender through construction and closeout, managing the documentation and processes that keep a project moving, including: RFIs, site instructions, change orders, shop drawings and submittals, progress claims, deficiency tracking, commissioning, and warranty and closeout records.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Reviewing electrical shop drawings and submittals for design compliance, code conformance, and constructability, coordinating with the engineering team as needed.
- Conducting regular field reviews to confirm installations match the drawings and specs — covering power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage and communications, and emergency/backup power systems.
- Documenting site observations, flagging deficiencies and non-conformances, and issuing reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Tracking change orders, contractor substitutions, and their cost impacts.
- Participating in commissioning and functional testing of electrical systems.
- Supporting project close-out, including deficiency resolution and lessons-learned reviews.
- Building strong, credible relationships with contractors, trades, and stakeholders.
- Working within the applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations for each project, and championing a safety-first culture.
- Supporting QA/QC across construction administration activities.
What you bring
- Red Seal Electrician certification or AScT preferred.
- 10+ years in electrical construction, with substantial time on active job sites.
- Background in roles such as electrician, foreperson, site supervisor, or field services representative.
- Familiarity with construction administration processes and documentation is a strong asset.
- A practical, solutions-oriented approach with sharp problem-solving instincts and the ability to anticipate and head off site issues.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and a clear communicator in writing and in person.
- Proven ability to build rapport on site, manage conflict, and navigate tricky site conditions across multiple trades.
Working conditions
A mix of office-based work (extended computer use) and regular field work on active construction sites, with exposure to weather and site conditions. No travel required beyond local project sites.
