Buy-Low Foods is currently seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our store located in Hope, BC. This role is Full-Time and reports to the Store Manager.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee daily store operations, supervise employees and manage inventory
- Effectively recruit, train and retain new employees
- Maintain store staffing levels to meet the needs of our customers, while operating within budgeted wage costs
- Creation of weekly department work schedules
- Monitor performance of staff and develop employees to their full potential
- Manage and motivate the team to increase sales, meet targets and exceed budgeted goals, while ensuring operational efficiency
- Analyze and compare sales data for effective merchandising
- Handle customer queries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Comply with the Company’s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies
- Provide a safe and clean store environment to protect both staff and customers
- Building solid relationships with customers and vendors, while actively seeking new business development opportunities through networking and community events
- Liaise with the store manager, department heads and staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads or promotions, cross merchandising, etc.
- To perform other duties and tasks assigned or required as consistent with the nature and scope of the position
Skills and qualifications:
- Previous relevant grocery, retail and/or food service supervisory experience
- Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner
- Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers
- Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
- Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations
- Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales
- Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock
- Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidays
Work conditions and physical requirements:
- Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times
- Must be able to be on your feet for up to an entire 8-hour shift
- Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
- Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail and hand-eye co-ordination
