Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Field Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting construction projects through technical expertise, project management, and client interaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing your skills in construction estimating, negotiation, and project coordination to ensure successful project delivery. Candidates should have a strong background in construction and related software tools such as Bluebeam and MS Project. You will also be assisting the owner of the company in the preparation and documentation of the estimation, material sourcing, subcontractor management. You will work closely with Ownership to make a positive impact and play and integral role in the efficient execution of work. This includes overseeing schedules, budgets, progress tracking, invoicing and submission of all project documentation. It is an entry-level position with room to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management Support
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities under the direction of the owner.
- Help prepare project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, schedules and progress reports.
- Support site coordination with supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Monitor daily progress, update project logs, and assist with tracking milestones and deadlines.
- Participate in site meetings and walkthroughs; document issues and follow up on action items.
- Assist with project closeout documentation, including as-builts, warranties, and final inspections.
- Review weekly project timesheets and report on progress tracking.
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Assist with quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Help prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bid submissions for tenders and negotiated projects.
- Request and organize supplier and subcontractor quotes; compare pricing and scopes.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, unit rates, and historical cost information.
- Review drawings for constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities and flag them to senior staff.
- Review tender website and report on potential projects to submit tenders.
- Complete tender documentation and submittals.
Administration & Coordination
- Help prepare purchase orders, work orders, and basic contracts as directed.
- Maintain organized digital and paper project files.
- Complete project invoicing and submission to customers.
- Support compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and client requirements.
- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Other duties as assigned such as set up of new employees in systems.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; or relevant industry experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in construction, estimating, or project coordination (co-op or internship experience an asset).
- Basic understanding of construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating or project management software is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to office and job sites.
- Advanced Drone license as asset.

Working Conditions
- Split between site work and office as required.
- Must be able to visit active construction sites and comply with all safety requirements and PPE.
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday 7am -5pm , with occasional overtime based on project needs.
Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
