About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support an elderly woman in Burlington who is recovering from mobility challenges following a hospital stay. She uses a walker or wheelchair and requires assistance with daily activities while maintaining her independence in her apartment building. She is cognitively aware but benefits from supervision for safety. - Prepare or reheat meals (Meals on Wheels will be delivered)
- Administer medication reminders according to schedule
- Complete light housekeeping tasks including laundry, tidying, and taking out garbage
- Provide companionship and supervision for safety
- Monitor client's well-being and communicate any concerns to family
- Maintain a calm, patient presence that helps the client feel comfortable
What We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting clients with mobility limitations, particularly those using walkers or wheelchairs
- Comfortable assisting with toileting and basic hygiene needs
- Ability to work independently while following care instructions
- Patient, calm demeanor that creates a comfortable environment
- Reliable and punctual with consistent availability
- English-speaking
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for errands or appointments as needed
- Takes initiative when needed while respecting the client's independence
Schedule:
This is a one-month commitment starting Monday, June 22nd. We're looking for someone available for 2-hour shifts, three days per week. Preferred schedule is flexible and can be arranged around caregiver availability - typically Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, though specific timing can be discussed. The goal is to space visits throughout the week to provide consistent support during the client's recovery period.
Additional Details:
The client lives in a senior apartment building on New Street in Burlington, conveniently located between Guelph Line and Walkers Line. The building is not assisted living, so the client manages independently with support services. Family members are actively involved and will coordinate care alongside the caregiver. This is an excellent opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys working with seniors in a recovery phase and can provide the patience and encouragement needed during this transitional period. The family values clear communication and reliability, and they're looking for someone who will treat their mother with respect and kindness while helping her regain strength and confidence in her daily routine.
