Position Summary
Atlantic Braids Ltd. is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime, support preventative maintenance initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation issues.
- Repair production equipment safely and efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Install, modify, and commission new equipment as required.
- Inspect machinery and identify potential failures before they occur.
- Complete scheduled maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance plans.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures.
- Repair motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, bearings, belts, chains, rollers, and production machinery.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (basic troubleshooting preferred).
- Replace defective mechanical and electrical components.
Preventative Maintenance
- Complete preventative maintenance work orders.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within the maintenance management system.
- Recommend improvements to equipment reliability.
- Assist in developing preventative maintenance schedules.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend modifications that reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- Assist with equipment upgrades and process improvements.
Health & Safety
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings and workplace inspections.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Management.
- Assist operators with equipment adjustments and changeovers.
- Provide technical support during production issues.
- Mentor apprentices or junior maintenance staff when required.
Qualifications
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright – 433A) or Industrial Electrician (442A) preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing maintenance experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience is an asset.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Work in confined spaces when required.
- Use hand and power tools safely.
- Perform repetitive manual tasks.
- Work in varying temperatures within a manufacturing environment.
- Distinguish colours for electrical wiring where required.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with moving machinery.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, oils, and lubricants.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
- On-call or emergency breakdown support may be required.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
