Theatre Manager

The Victoria Film Festival is in search of a Theatre Manager who is comfortable with tech, enjoys working with customers, and thrives running a clean, organized, and well-run venue.
The position needs someone who is confident managing box office systems and the day-to-day back end of theatre operations.
If you enjoy leading a team, coordinating events, and keeping things running smoothly front-of-house and behind the scenes, this position could be a good fit.
You'll work with great volunteers, engaged staff, filmmakers, and the Program team. The Theatre Manager will work closely with the General Manager, creating a solid operational base for the theatre from which to grow.
Duties include:
- Manage screenings and live events at The Vic Theatre.
- Manage concessions.
- Supervise and support the Assistant Theatre Manager.
- Schedule, supervise and support volunteers working for the theatre.
- Manage rentals of the theatre.
- Coordinate special event screenings, including Quote-Alongs and themed events (e.g. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sing-Along Sound of Music).
- Work with the Program Manager on scheduling and execution of programmed films.
- Oversee front-of-house and in-theatre operations during screenings and events.
- Coordinate use and management of Festival-owned rental equipment, including projectors, screens, and sound systems.
- Collaborate with Festival staff during special events and peak Festival periods as required.
- Ensure theatre operations meet Festival standards for safety, presentation, and audience experience.
- Reports to the General Manager
- Perform other duties as required to support theatre and Festival operations
Job requirements
- A valid BC driver’s license and a car.
- Serving it Right
- Knowledge of WordPress, ShiftBoard, Microsoft 365, Sharepoint
- Comfortable with public speaking
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Appropriate managerial experience (people and budget management);
- A proven track record of project development and oversight;
- The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, busy, team-oriented environment;
- Technologically savvy in online box office systems and website management;
- Strong customer service skills and experience with front-of-house or venue operations;
- Experience scheduling and supervising staff and/or volunteers.
Annual Salary is CA $60,000. Includes a beefy Group Insurance Plan that covers life insurance, dental and extended health. There is also a percentage RRSP match after 1+ year.
