Columbia Academy is a growing K–12 independent school located in downtown Vancouver. Our school is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dynamic Principal to join our leadership team and support the continued growth, academic excellence, and daily operations of our school.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers, students, families, government relationships, and the overall success of Columbia Academy.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership & Teaching
- Provide strong academic leadership and support the implementation of the school’s educational vision.
- Teach selected courses/classes based on the candidate’s expertise and school needs.
- Support teachers with curriculum planning, classroom management, assessment, and professional development.
- Monitor student academic progress and maintain high standards of achievement.
- Promote a positive learning environment that supports student success.
Ministry of Education & Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as a key contact person with the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care and other educational authorities.
- Ensure the school maintains compliance with BC independent school requirements, policies, and regulations.
- Prepare for and support Ministry inspections, reviews, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate school records, policies, and documentation required by regulatory bodies.
- Stay updated on changes in education policies, regulations, and government requirements.
Student Support & School Culture
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined school environment.
- Support student behaviour management and ensure school policies are consistently implemented.
- Work closely with students and families to address academic, behavioural, and social concerns.
- Promote student leadership, character development, and a strong school culture.
Daily School Operations
- Oversee daily school operations and ensure smooth and effective campus management.
- Work closely with teachers, administrative staff, and school leadership.
- Support scheduling, student services, parent communication, school events, and emergency procedures.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid BC teaching certificate preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a school leadership role (Principal, Vice Principal, Department Head, or equivalent).
- Strong classroom teaching experience.
- Experience working with the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care, independent school inspections, audits, or regulatory reviews preferred.
- Strong understanding of BC curriculum, graduation requirements, and independent school regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, government representatives, and community partners.
- Professional, proactive, and growth-oriented mindset.
Pay: From $79,838.87 per year
