About the Role
The QMI/Metering Specialist is responsible for safely and effectively developing the QMI and Metering function within the LNG Canada asset, while building the team required to support Asset Engineering through the initial operation of the first 200 cargos and beyond.
In this role, you will establish robust corrective and preventive maintenance practices, develop sustainable schedules, and help ensure stable, reliable facility operations. Working closely with QMI/Metering Specialists and Technicians across the facility, you will foster an environment that enables timely resolution of technical issues, strengthens assurance support, and delivers equipment verification and calibration activities. You will also contribute to Asset Technical Queries and promote effective collaboration across asset functions and departments

You will use your expertise to:
- Ensure that Analysis & Metering equipment is managed to ensure plant reliability & availability
- Owns the Preventative Maintenance Programs and is accountable to ensure that proper PMs are in the system with the appropriate documentation to ensure compliance
- Review, guide and prepare all maintenance practices, procedures, and guidelines
- Provide overall support to the site QMI/Metering Technicians, and Operations Team Members
- Work within and drive the maintenance business processes of AMS – Maintenance Execution (ME) within site and work on efficiencies within maintenance
- Support the development of succession plans and ensure prospective QMI Technicians and Specialists are adequately trained
- Develop expertise in operational reliability systems and management (Causal Learning)
- Participation in Area Co-ordination Team meetings
- Lead activities to correct chronic reliability issues (bad actors)
- Liaise with vendor representatives when conducting repair work.
- Work closely in-line with Asset Team members & PACO Team Leads
Analyzers:
- Provide technical advice, clarifications and assurance services to the following equipment and their processes:
- Gas Chromatographs, Analyzers, Analyzer Management and Data Acquisition Systems (AMADAS), Analyzers Server Software, Analyzers Server Engineering Terminals, Process Sample Conditioning Systems.
- Equipment Operations for: Bartec Benke, Hobre, Honeywell, ICON, K-Patents, Mitchel, SICK ( CEMS), Yokogawa, ASI Keco, Dissolved Oxygen, E+H, Galvanic, GE Panamaterics, HACH, Servomex, Asap, Liquiline pH, Rodi Systems and Welker.
- Asap and Welker (Sampling).
- Support continued plant safety, integrity and reliability through the application of specific engineering standards and statutory requirements.
- Troubleshoot instrument and electrical equipment issues with the QMI & Metering Technicians.
- Supporting analysis of facility’s performance and failures.
- Ensure critical equipment spares and consumables availability through timely communication with the C&P team for parts and stocking levels.
- Work and manage contractors successfully to effectively and safely execute assigned maintenance tasks.
- MTO engagement on request.
- Vendor services support (Clarifications, Travel, Call-Off Requests)
- Provide technical expertise and support to the work preparation team.
Meters & Metering Systems:
Provide technical advice, clarifications and assurance services for the following Metering equipment and their processes:
- Operate and Maintain Liquid and Gas Flow Meters, Meter Operating Systems, Export Sampling Systems, Fiscal Meter & Master Meter Calibrations and Assurance, Measurement services across Class 1 to 4 systems.
- Equipment Operations for: GE Panamaterics (USM & Flare), Micromotion (Coriolis), Daniel (Venturi), Baker Hughes (USM), Rosemount (Orifice - DP), Asap and Welker (Sampling).
- Support continued plant safety, integrity and reliability through the application of specific engineering standards and statutory requirements
- Troubleshoot instrument and electrical equipment issues with the QMI & Metering Technicians on request
- Oversee history reporting in the SAP-PM system to enable data reporting and collection in supporting analysis of facility’s performance and failures
- Ensure critical equipment spares and consumables availability through timely communication with the C&P team for parts and stocking levels
- Work and manage contractors successfully to execute assigned maintenance tasks effectively and safely
- MTO engagement on request
- Vendor services support (Clarifications, Travel, Call-Off Requests)
- Provide technical expertise and support to the work preparation team
- Support to PACO QMI & Metering Lead as necessary
To be successful, you will have:
- Post Secondary Degree in Chemical/Electrical/Automation Engineering or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology in Instrumentation/Analyzers considered. P.Eng and P.L.Eng will be preferred
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience as Analyzer Professional in an industrial oil refinery, chemicals plant, or similar facility, preferably in LNG facility working with analyzer equipment
- Minimum 1 to 5 years Metering professional experience in an industrial oil refinery, chemicals plant, or similar facility, working with metering & measurement equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills working as the primary link between Engineering, Maintenance and Production
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
- Effectively pull groups together and co-ordinate action plans to drive resolution
- Manage evolving priorities and deliver on multiple commitments in a timely manner, strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to adapt to change and help others through the change process, self-motivated and driven
