Under the general direction of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services, assists in all areas of preparation and the administration and supervision of the department when authorized. Maintains a clean kitchen environment.

SCOPE/POSITION SUMMARY
· Assist cook with meal and snack preparation as required.
· Assist with storage of deliveries in kitchen.
· Prepare food and supplies for small catered functions.
· Measure and record temperatures of fridges/freezers.
· Restock kitchen with required items from storage.
· Transport food carts to and from food service areas as required.
· Clean areas as assigned by Supervisor
· Wash dishes, pots, pans, food carts and floors
· Remove garbage and recycling.
· Demonstrate consideration towards residents, visitors, Home's policies, and procedures.
· Demonstrate willingness to co-operate with colleagues, supervisors, and members of other departments.
· Ensure proper use and care of equipment.
· Ensure that the standards and laws of Kashruth are maintained.
· Ensure the Health and Safety of residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors by following safe practices and proper procedures.
· Ensure the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of the residents.
· Maintain all kitchen areas to a standard of cleanliness as required by Public Health Standards.
· Participate in in-services and continuing education.
· Review core competency in-services as required by legislation.
· Put away grocery orders
· Perform any other duties as required that are necessary for the welfare of the residents and efficient operation of the Home.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Able to follow recipes and schedules of daily operation.
-Working knowledge of English
· Able to work independently and with direction.
· Trained and conversant in proper lifting techniques of food supplies and kitchen utensils/equipment.
· Health Care Food Service Certificate
· Skill/accuracy; rapid movements
· Food Handler’s Certification
· Periods of Physical Strain Involving Some Fatigue.
· Frequently lift up to 20lbs.
