Position Summary: The Generations Connect Coordinator is a full-time temporary position reporting directly to the Director of Social Development. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the Generations Connect program, which supports the “Connecting the Generations” priority identified in Driftpile Cree Nation’s Community Safety Plan (CSP). This role focuses on bringing youth and Elders together through intergenerational, land-based, cultural, and story-sharing activities that strengthen cultural continuity, preserve community knowledge, and foster respectful, long-term relationships across generations. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with DCN departments, including Recreation, Elders Support, Education, and Health and Wellness, to ensure programming is culturally grounded, inclusive, and aligned with community needs and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Coordination

Develop, implement, and coordinate intergenerational programming that connects youth and Elders through cultural, land-based, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Plan regular activities such as storytelling circles, traditional skills workshops, land-based learning outings, cultural camps, and community gatherings.

Ensure programming reflects Driftpile Cree Nation’s traditions, language, values, and community priorities.

Create seasonal and annual work plans, schedules, and activity calendars for the program.
Community Engagement and Relationship Building

Build and maintain positive relationships with Elders, youth, families, and community members.

Support Elders’ meaningful participation by coordinating transportation, honoraria, accessibility needs, and culturally appropriate supports.

Engage youth in a respectful and safe manner, encouraging participation, leadership, and intergenerational learning.

Act as a liaison between community members and DCN departments involved in the program.
Collaboration and Partnerships

Coordinate programming with DCN Recreation, Elders Support, Education, and Health and Wellness departments to avoid duplication and strengthen impact.

Work with schools, community organizations, and cultural knowledge keepers to enhance programming opportunities.

Support cross-departmental initiatives that promote community safety, wellness, and cultural continuity.
Administration and Reporting

Maintain accurate records including attendance, activity summaries, consent forms, and participant feedback.

Prepare reports for funders, leadership, and internal departments outlining program activities, outcomes, and successes.

Assist with budget tracking, purchasing supplies, and submitting expense documentation in accordance with DCN policies.

Support grant reporting requirements and contribute to funding applications when required.
Health, Safety, and Cultural Protocols

Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed manner.

Follow DCN policies, community safety guidelines, and cultural protocols when working with Elders and youth.

Support a respectful environment free from lateral violence, discrimination, or harassment.

Ensure land-based activities follow safety plans and risk management practices.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

Collect feedback from participants and partners to assess program effectiveness.

Identify gaps, emerging needs, and opportunities for program growth.

Incorporate community input and lessons learned into future programming.
Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or degree in Social Work, Community Development, Indigenous Studies, Education, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience working with Indigenous communities, particularly in intergenerational or cultural programming.

Demonstrated understanding of Cree culture, traditions, and community protocols (or willingness to learn).

Experience coordinating programs, events, or community-based initiatives.

Agreement Length: Temporary One Year Term 2026-2027
