Finnish Home is looking for Casual Housekeepers to join our Support Services team in our long-term care facility located in South Vancouver.
Finnish Home is a non-profit long-term care community dedicated to providing compassionate, resident-centered care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Our housekeeping team plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home for our residents, families, and staff.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with seniors, and values being part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Position Details
- Casual/on-call position
- HEU union position
- Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Training and orientation provided
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, lounges, hallways, and other common spaces
- Perform routine and deep cleaning duties following established schedules and procedures
- Follow infection prevention and control practices, including high-touch point cleaning
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Replenish supplies in resident and common areas
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages
- Work respectfully and professionally around residents and families
- Support a positive, welcoming, and home-like environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred, especially in health care or long-term care settings
- Knowledge of infection control and safe cleaning practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically able to perform housekeeping duties, including lifting, bending, pushing carts, and being on your feet for extended periods
