Youth Care Worker – Job Overview
As a Youth Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the safety, development, and well-being of children and youth with complex emotional, behavioural, and social needs. Working within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework, you will provide supervision, mentorship, and care in a structured setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with youth through consistent, respectful, and supportive interactions
- Implement daily routines, individual care plans, and behavior support strategies
- Promote the development of life skills, emotional regulation, and positive peer relationships
- Facilitate recreational, educational, and cultural programming
- Maintain accurate documentation, incident reports, and daily logs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social workers, educators, and health professionals
- Uphold safety protocols and support crisis intervention when needed
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience or education in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills
- A nonjudgmental and empathetic approach to care
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Valid First Aid/CPR, clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector, and a valid driver’s license (asset)
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
