The Machine Helper is responsible for performing routine and varied tasks in alignment with production processes within the wood department. The Machine Helper will be required to cross-train on positions and comply with SOPs and quality standards of all products while adhering to Health & Safety and BRC policies on a consistent basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Machine Operator by helping to load and unload finished parts from the machine.
- Transfer parts between departments, and to/from staging area using a pump truck.
- Perform all work to BRC standards and ensure final product meets quality standards.
- Determine and report product and equipment malfunctions to Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure the daily and weekly production schedule is ad hered to.
- Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Reports hazards immediately to a Supervisor or Manager. Without limitation, wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
- Follow all production procedures as instructed. Never attempts to operate a machine or use a tool unless training has been provided, and authorization has been provided.
- Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
- Basic; respectful, courteous and works well with others and builds effective working relationships within the department and BRC
- Openly participates in educational and cross-training opportunities as applicable to the position.
- Works overtime as required.
- Performs other duties as assig need from time to time at the discretion of management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma.
- Manufacturing experience is an asset.
- Able to operate pump trucks.
- Understands how to read a tape measurer.
- Willing and able to follow specific instructions.
- Knowledge of Product quality and good production methods
- Is able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and/or position them and to move, bend, twist or maintaining awkward body positions while performing work.
- Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and to see closely and/or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and/or detect flaws or errors.
- Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects may be required.
- Will be required to stand for 8 hours a day.
