POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Manager provides strategic oversight of building systems, preventive maintenance,
contractors, and site readiness across SIHLRC. This role ensures that SIHLRC maintains safe, functional,
and welcoming spaces that support relatives, staff, and daily operations. The position leads maintenance
planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance while coordinating closely with operational and
program teams.
Applicants must demonstrate clear alignment with SIHLRC’s vision, mission, values, and recovery-oriented
approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma‑informed practice, harm
reduction, and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Lead preventive and corrective maintenance for building systems, grounds, and infrastructure.
2. Oversee inspections, work orders, and repair priorities to maintain operational readiness.
3. Supervise maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors with clear performance and safety expectations.
4. Manage maintenance budgets, supplies, and capital improvement recommendations.
5. Ensure compliance with applicable safety, fire, environmental, and building requirements.
6. Coordinate timely response to urgent maintenance issues and site emergencies.
7. Support ceremony, programming, and occupancy needs by maintaining respectful, functional spaces
across SIHLRC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Minimum seven years of maintenance or building operations experience.
- Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and structural maintenance systems.
- Strong leadership, budgeting, and contractor coordination skills.
- Knowledge of Alberta safety, fire, and building compliance requirements.
- Ability to prioritize emergencies, planned maintenance, and multi-system repairs.
- Ability to maintain safe, accessible, and respectful environments across SIHLRC.
Education and Experience
Diploma, certificate, trade qualification, or equivalent professional experience in building maintenance, facilities
management, or a related field.
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
