Three Wishes Daycare Centre is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Daycare Attendant.
The successful candidate will help provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, build relationships, and develop important social and life skills. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and can develop positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers.

- Compensation: Paid in accordance with the Nova Scotia Early Childhood Educator Wage Scale

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care to children.
- Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, clean, and welcoming daycare environment.
- Develop and lead age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, physical activity, communication, and social development.
- Support children with daily routines, including meals, snacks, rest periods, toileting, diapering, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with the daycare’s requirements and applicable nutrition guidelines.
- Encourage positive behaviour, cooperation, sharing, communication, and respect for others.
- Observe children’s development, behaviour, health, and emotional well-being and report concerns to the Daycare Director.
- Build respectful and positive relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and co-workers.
- Communicate with families regarding children’s routines, activities, progress, and any concerns, as appropriate.
- Maintain required records relating to attendance, incidents, injuries, care, and children’s development.
- Follow individual instructions relating to children’s allergies, dietary requirements, medications, routines, and additional support needs.
- Follow all daycare policies, licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality expectations.
- Clean and sanitize toys, equipment, activity areas, washrooms, and other daycare spaces as required.
- Respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies and complete the necessary incident or accident reports.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and daycare events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Daycare Director.
Qualifications
- Nova Scotia Level 1 Early Childhood Educator classification is preferred.
- Applicants who are currently working toward an ECE classification may also be considered.
- Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or school-aged children is an asset.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate programming is an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Food Handler certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Register Check.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment when working with children and families.
- An understanding of the importance of culture, community, inclusion, and family involvement in children’s development.
