We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor to lead our daily cleaning operations. In this working supervisory role, you will be responsible for directing the housekeeping team, managing laundry services, and actively participating in the maintenance of guest rooms and common areas. This leadership role is crucial to ensuring an exceptional, welcoming experience for all our guests.
Standard working hours are generally from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility required based on operational needs. Please note: As we operate in the hospitality industry, the successful candidate must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and support housekeeping staff to ensure high productivity and adherence to property standards.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet our strict quality guidelines.
- Room Turnover: Perform thorough cleaning of guest rooms, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and changing bed linens and towels.
- Laundry Management: Oversee and execute laundry operations, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and towels efficiently.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Keep inventory and stock supplies updated. Maintain accurate records of cleaning products, linens, and guest amenities, ensuring storage areas remain fully stocked and organized.
- Maintenance Reporting: Promptly report any facility maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards to management.
- Compliance: Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations.
- Guest Relations: Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly and professionally to guest requests and inquiries.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in hotel housekeeping or professional cleaning services is required.
- Supervisory Skills: Demonstrated experience leading a team, training staff, or overseeing daily operations is essential.
- Availability: Must have open availability to work weekends and holidays.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attitude: A positive, team-oriented attitude and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality hospitality service.

To successfully perform the essential cleaning duties in our short-term rentals, candidates must be able to:
Lift & Carry: Safely manage up to 50 lbs (e.g., heavy laundry bags, vacuums, and bulk supplies).
Climb Stairs: Navigate up to 4 flights of stairs while carrying supplies, as properties lack elevators.
Move & Bend: Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to sanitize low surfaces, clean under furniture, and make beds.
Stand & Walk: Sustain prolonged standing and walking throughout the duration of the shift.
