Taylor Ryan has partnered with a well known general contractor that specializes in building commercial tenant improvement and new build projects throughout BC. The ideal fit would be a someone with a technical institute such as a Construction Management or Architectural Building Technology diploma and 5+ years experience in construction management in a mixture of previous Project Coordinator/Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineering positions. This position will report into the Director of Construction and be assigned a Project Coordinator to work closely with.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all stages of project life cycle
- Manage project budget
- Review documents, project drawings, contracts, and specifications in detail and inform the appropriate team about potential issues or conflicts.
- Plan and manage daily operations and construction schedules while monitoring project progress.
- Monitor expenditures effectively, review invoices in detail, and manage labour and material costs according to the project budget and underlying estimate.
- Prepare contracts and confidently negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
- Liaise with the project team, clients, consultants and sub-contractors.
- Train and mentor Project Coordinators.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Construction Project Management
- Prior experience working for a General Contractor in the construction industry within commercial, industrial and institutional projects
- Demonstrated success in projects between $5-20M
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Industry knowledge and ability to read blueprints
- Detail-oriented and strong communication skills
- Project Manager certificate/diploma is considered an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts
- Proficiency with construction drawings, MS Office Applications including strong writing & communication skills
- Valid Driver's License
