Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chiropodist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized foot and lower limb care, focusing on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot-related conditions. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes. The successful applicant will have a strong background in patient care, medical terminology, and relevant clinical skills, including pain management and pediatrics. Experience with electronic health records such as Epic and Cerner is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' foot and lower limb health, including medical history review and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for various foot conditions, including injuries, deformities, and chronic ailments.
- Perform procedures such as wound care, nail surgery, and orthotic fitting with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage medication administration related to foot care treatments when necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care strategies.
- Educate patients on foot health maintenance, injury prevention, and proper footwear choices.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Collect data for research purposes or quality improvement initiatives as required.
- Assist in home care visits for patients needing outpatient or post-operative foot care services.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in podiatric medicine through ongoing education and research.
Requirements
- Valid certification or licensure as a Chiropodist or Podiatrist.
- Prior hospital experience or clinical practice experience in acute care settings preferred.
- Experience in pain management techniques related to foot and lower limb conditions.
- Background working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality patient care in diverse settings including home care environments.
- Experience with data collection for research or quality assurance projects is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their foot health needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care.
Pay: $80.00-$100.00 per hour
