Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools covers a geographical area that includes the regional communities of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Spirit River. We are a team of 600 staff who provide quality teaching and learning experiences for approximately 5400 students.
Position Overview
The School Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for managing school food service in schools with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving a balanced and healthy range of food items in a clean and organized food service environment. The School Nutrition Program Coordinator ensures respectful, positive and professional food services.

Promote and support healthy eating and good nutrition through proactive menu planning and safe food preparation/handling/distribution.

Proactively and thoroughly complete required daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning of food service area(s) and equipment (including preventative maintenance) complying with current health standards.

Source and purchase inventory items, manage inventory efficiently, identify food and supplies to be ordered and maintain manual and electronic files and records.

Assist the Division Finance Department in managing and monitoring the nutrition budget, including pricing items, collecting and handling cash and/or vouchers, and prudently purchasing supplies and groceries.

Supervise and work along side School Nutrition Program kitchen staff.

Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Superintendent or designate.
Ideal Candidate Qualities and Desired Qualifications-
Grade 12 or equivalent.

Safe Food Handling Course required.

Certificate or diploma as a Food Service Worker or related discipline would be an asset.

Experience managing kitchen operations and inventories in a commercial food delivery environment is a definite asset.

Ability to perform physical labour including regular lifting and standing for long periods of time.

Ability to tolerate temperatures from hot ovens, dishwashers and other equipment.

Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and serve large-scale meals.

Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation standards and safe food handling practices.

Basic analytical and mathematical skills for measuring ingredients, converting recipes, making change and balancing cash.

Ability to safely use and operate kitchen equipment.

Ability to perform basic food sales and purchasing functions.

Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

Hourly rate (grid range): $27.19 - $35.84.

Hours of work are 7 hours per day on school days. School Nutrition Program Coordinators are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.
