Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) is an organization that provides essential services to 5 First Nations within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. In collaboration with our various departments and the First Nations, we provide multi-service and program delivery to support a thriving, healthy, and self-reliant future for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people.
ATC is looking to fill a Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) position this summer, in the capacity of Office Assistant. The individual would be responsible for providing administrative and operational support to ATC’s main office operations and our various departments including Child & Family Services, Employment and Training, Education, Culture & Language, Health, Human Resources, and Operations.
Key Duties Include:
- Carrying out day to day administrative duties such as preparing documents, filing, copying/scanning.
- Providing administrative and set-up support for ATC’s internal and external events.
- Supporting various departments with the set-up and facilitation of programming, workshops, or other activities. This may include summer youth land-based learning activities.
- Assist with front desk coverage when the Main Administrative Assistant is out of the office or requires support.
- Other duties as required.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values is an asset.
- Experience in written and verbal communication, as well as facilitation and presentation skills.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must meet Canada Summer Jobs employee criteria
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; International students are not eligible.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
