Job Overview
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Bradford is seeking a skilled, dependable, and hands on Maintenance Technician to join our opening team. This role is responsible for maintaining the overall condition and functionality of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and pool operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience with hotel or building maintenance, and knowledge of pool operations and preventative maintenance programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and associates while maintaining Marriott brand standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesHotel & Guest Room Maintenance
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs for guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest concerns
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, locks, furniture, appliances, and equipment
- Ensure all hotel systems and equipment are operating efficiently
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to hotel schedules and standards
Preventive Maintenance Program (PM)
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance inspections
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records
- Identify potential maintenance concerns proactively to minimize downtime and guest impact
- Support ongoing upkeep and appearance of the hotel property
Pool Operations & Safety
- Maintain hotel pool and related equipment in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Perform daily pool testing and maintain proper chemical levels
- Ensure pool area cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness
- Maintain pool logs and documentation as required by local authorities
- Must hold or obtain required pool operator certification and health related certifications for pool maintenance
General Property Operations
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical, and safety systems
- Assist with setup, vendor coordination, and deliveries when required
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and tools
- Ensure compliance with Marriott standards, fire safety, and health regulations
Safety & Security
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations promptly
- Support hotel safety procedures and security protocols
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times
- Assist during inspections from health, fire, or regulatory authorities if required
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Experience
- Previous hotel maintenance, building maintenance, or facilities experience preferred
- Experience with pool maintenance and hotel operations is an asset
- Technical or trade certification is an asset
Skills & Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance systems
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Certifications
- Certified Pool Operator certification or willingness to obtain required certification
- Knowledge of pool health and safety regulations preferred
- WHMIS or other safety certifications are an asset

- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and on call support if required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and supplies
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
