About Ekandou Consulting
Ekandou Consulting helps local businesses identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency. We work with owners and decision-makers through a consultative approach focused on measurable value and long-term relationships.
We're hiring a Business Development Executive to grow our local client base and build a qualified sales pipeline.
The role
This is a hands-on B2B business-development position — not an inbound-only sales role or a desk-based administrative job. You will create opportunities from scratch: prospecting, booking meetings, running discovery calls, and managing follow-up through to signed agreements.
You'll have real ownership over how you manage your pipeline and your day, within a supportive, defined process. Strong performance over the six-month term may lead to a full-time, permanent position with expanded responsibilities.
What you will do
- Build and maintain target lists of businesses and decision-makers across Brampton, Guelph, and nearby markets.
- Reach out via phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and local networking.
- Book discovery meetings with owners, executives, and finance/operations leads.
- Run early-stage discovery conversations to understand cost pain points and fit.
- Explain Ekandou's value proposition clearly and without pressure tactics.
- Keep CRM records, notes, and follow-up schedules accurate and current.
- Coordinate with the owner on proposals and next steps for qualified opportunities.
- Submit a brief weekly update: activity, meetings, pipeline status, and priorities.
- Handle client information professionally and confidentially, in line with company policy.
Initial training
The first week of employment consists of mandatory, paid training to prepare you for the role. Training covers our service offerings, target market, outreach methods, cost categories, CRM system, sales process and other relevant topics. Training is compensated at your regular hourly rate and is a required part of employment.
Schedule and flexibility
Regular hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (17.5 paid hours/week). Occasional client meetings or networking events outside these hours may arise and will be coordinated in advance; any additional hours require prior approval and will be handled under the employment agreement.
Compensation
- Base pay: $20.00/hour for 17.5 paid hours per week, including training week.
- Commission: 10% of eligible monthly revenue collected by Ekandou Consulting from clients you originate. For example, a client generating $2,000/month in collected revenue could add $200/month in ongoing commission.
- Signing incentive: $100 per eligible signed service agreement.
- Growth potential: Possible conversion to full-time, permanent employment after the six-month term.
Full commission terms — including attribution, payment timing, and treatment of cancelled or unpaid revenue — are set out in the written employment agreement. All payments are subject to standard payroll deductions.
Probationary period
The first three months are probationary. During this time we'll assess reliability, communication, prospecting activity, CRM discipline, coachability, and overall fit. Completing probation does not guarantee contract renewal or conversion to a permanent role.
Required qualifications
- 2+ years of B2B sales, business development, or client-acquisition experience, including self-generated pipeline (not just inbound leads).
- Strong spoken and written English; comfort speaking with business owners and executives.
- Strong organization, CRM discipline, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with phone, email, LinkedIn, Microsoft Office, and CRM tools.
- Available for the Tuesday–Saturday morning schedule, including the first paid training week, and occasional local meetings when arranged in advance.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience selling B2B services (consulting, telecom, merchant services, payroll, staffing, insurance, logistics, office technology, or similar).
- Experience selling to small and mid-sized businesses.
- Familiarity with consultative/value-based selling and ROI conversations.
- Knowledge of the Brampton, Guelph, Mississauga, Cambridge, or Kitchener-Waterloo business community.
The right person
- A proactive, curious salesperson who asks good questions before pitching.
- Persistent without being pushy; handles "not now" well.
- Self-directed, dependable, and accountable for weekly results.
- Motivated by base pay plus recurring commission.
- Coachable and comfortable working within a defined sales process.
