PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU ARE A JOURNEYMAN OR APPRENTIC OIL BURNER MECHANIC - A Nunavut Housing Association has an immediate opening for an oil burner technician (OBM or OBT) to join our team! Please only apply if you are a certified journeyman oil burner mechanic with years of experience on residential oil burners and are legal to work in Canada.
The ideal candidate for this position has an extensive background in working on both residential boilers and furnaces, and works well in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate must be willing to perform routine maintenance, diagnose and resolve heating system issues, as well as make repairs on site. We're interested in hiring problem solver who is detail oriented and able to work independently. The right candidate is also willing to move to the Nunavut taking one paid vacation per year. All air fare and hotel to the jobsite is provided upon initial hire.
The work week is 40 hours, with some overtime (paid at the overtime rate), after hours emergency calls (overtime) Plus standby pay.
Note: apprentices with sufficient knowledge, skills and experience may be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Annual servicing of the oil burner.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose heating system issues.
- Respond to after hours calls.
- Keep the boiler rooms clean and tidy.
- Offer advice and solutions to management on streamlining.
- Inspect systems, document deficiencies, do repairs.
- Inspect and choose systems for replacement.
- Work efficiently under pressure.
- Fill out work orders and other related paperwork.
- Able to service HRV would be considered an asset.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Pay: From $52.00 per hour
