The Job!
The Certified Tin Smith is responsible for fabricating, installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal and tin products for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. This role requires expertise in metalworking techniques, blueprint interpretation, and adherence to industry safety and quality standards.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal and tin components according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape metal materials using hand tools and specialized equipment.
- Install and repair roofing systems, flashing, gutters, ductwork, and other sheet metal products.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards, building codes, and project requirements.
- Operate and maintain metalworking machinery, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair damaged or worn metal components.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment and comply with all OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Document completed work and report material or equipment needs to supervisors.
What you bring to the job
You are someone who is proficient in the use of sheet metal fabrication tools, equipment, and machinery. You understand how to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, and come with the following:
- Current Tin Smith Certification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tin smithing, sheet metal work, or a related trade preferred
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions as required
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is an asset
