Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Junior Packaging Technician to support packaging film development, product trials, and operation of form and shrink packaging machines.
The successful candidate will work with industry-leading packaging systems including Multivac, Ulma, and other thermoforming and shrink packaging machinery. This role combines equipment operation, product testing, troubleshooting, and technical support for packaging development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support testing and evaluation of new packaging film structures and materials.
- Conduct packaging film trials using thermoforming, vacuum, and shrink packaging machines.
- Troubleshoot packaging issues related to film performance, sealing, forming, shrinking, puncture resistance, and package integrity.
- Analyze trial results and document machine settings, packaging performance, and observations.
- Work with vendors, customers, and internal teams to optimize packaging solutions.
- Assist in identifying root causes of packaging and processing challenges during development trials.
- Evaluate seal quality, vacuum retention, package appearance, shrink characteristics, and overall package performance.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on trial outcomes.
- Support customer demonstrations and product validation activities.
- Maintain testing equipment, laboratory materials, and trial inventory.
- Follow all food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements.
Equipment Experience (Preferred)
Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:
- Multivac thermoforming systems
- Ulma thermoforming systems
- Form and Flo shrink machinery
- Vacuum packaging equipment
- Shrink wrapping machinery
- Shrink tunnels
- Tray sealers
- Food processing and packaging equipment
Qualifications
Required
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work safely around industrial machinery
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs)
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma
- Industrial Maintenance Technician Certificate
- Manufacturing Technology Diploma
- Packaging Technology education or experience
- Experience in food processing or packaging manufacturing environments

Pay: $25.00-$29.00 per hour
