Job Description
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Mississauga, ON production facility. The successful candidate must have experience working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and experience repairing production equipment. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Plant Manager and will be responsible for the maintenance needs of the production floor and plant. The Maintenance Technician’s prime responsibility is the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all plant equipment. All maintenance activities must be performed in a safe and efficient manner, and must follow all Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations. Equipment includes mixers, grinders, blenders, breading equipment, belts, fryers, baggers, refrigeration systems, etc.
Other job duties will include safety audits, building inspections, systems inspections, and planning/scheduling repairs. The successful candidate will be a good communicator and team member who can also work independently as needed. Attention to detail, time management skills and organizational skills are required as well as above-average eye-hand coordination and the ability to stand, kneel or crouch for long periods of time throughout the day.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helping set up equipment at beginning of shift and disassemble equipment at end of shift.
- Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
- Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Optimizing equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, and participating in continuous improvement projects.
- Completing work on-time according to Preventative Maintenance schedules.
- Promptly responding to equipment related issues, troubleshooting breakdowns of equipment, and repairing packaging lines and equipment.
- Working in compliance with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, and HACCP requirements and operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEGE
- Must have prior experience working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and repairing of production machinery.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Must have intermediate grasp of related mechanical requirements and be able to apply corrective measures.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.
- Ability to work in cold temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
