General Accountant. With vertically integrated operations and multiple business lines, the company plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure and development projects across North America. Responsibilities:
- Prepares standard journal entries for month-end, quarter-end and year-end.
- Prepares monthly Corporate tax and HST/GST remittances as well as Stats Canada reporting and investigates significant variances to ensure accuracy of returns and avoid penalties.
- Provides financial analysis support to operations and construction teams.
- Prepares monthly sales reconciliations ensure coding and dollar values have imported correctly.
- Review account reconciliations and analysis.
- Reviews accounts payable for coding and tax accuracy, makes cost accrual entries to ensure accurate month end cut-off of expenses, and reconciles accounts payable subledgers and accrual balance to general ledger by making adjustments if required.
- Prepares year-end files for annual year-end financial audit and responds to audit efficiency in the process.
Qualifications:
- General Accounting: +2 years of accounting experience with advanced excel skills
- Education: College diploma or University degree in accounting
- Designation: Enrolment in a designation is a nice to have
- A personable approach and the ability to work effectively with diverse communication styles.
- Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Oracle ERP is a plus, but not a requirement.
