Position Overview
The Optician plays a key role in delivering an elevated patient experience by combining clinical expertise, product knowledge, and personalized service. Working closely with the Office Manager and administrative team, this role supports all aspects of the dispensary while contributing to overall clinic flow, patient care, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality, personalized eyewear experience, guiding patients through frame and lens selections based on lifestyle, prescription, and budget
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, warranties, and care to support informed decisions
- Take accurate optical measurements (PD, seg heights, OC height, vertex distance, etc.) and ensure precise lab order entry
- Verify, dispense, adjust, and repair eyewear to ensure optimal fit, comfort, and visual clarity
- Troubleshoot non-adapts, remakes, and patient concerns with professionalism and care
- Maintain proactive communication with patients regarding orders, timelines, and follow-ups
- Manage inventory, including frame selection, merchandising, vendor relationships, and stock levels
- Maintain accuracy in billing, insurance submissions, and patient documentation within the EHR system
- Ensure the dispensary is clean, organized, and aligned with clinic presentation standards
- Support overall clinic operations, including assisting with pre-testing, contact lens support, and exam room preparation as needed
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless patient flow and a strong team environment

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of lens designs, coatings, and optical measurements
- Experience with optical lab ordering systems and EHR software
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a clinical retail setting
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
