Position Summary
The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operaon of hydrovac trucks to perform daylighting, non-destrucve excavaton, and underground ulity exposure. This role requires strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulaons while delivering high-quality service on diverse job sites.
Key Responsibilies
· Operate and drive a hydrovac truck to and from job sites in compliance with Ontario road regulaons
· Perform non-destructive excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum systems to expose underground ulies and structures
· Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspecons of vehicles and equipment, and report any mechanical or maintenance issues
· Maintain accurate daily work logs, mesheets, and required project documentation
· Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, including ulity locates and site hazard assessments
· Work effecvely as part of a crew, assisng with job site setup, operation, and cleanup
· Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, and team members to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to specificaons
Working Condions
· Outdoor work in varying weather condions
· Frequent travel to different job sites across Ontario
· Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak periods
Qualifica�ons
· Completed secondary school
· Valid Ontario DZ or AZ driver’s licence with a clean driving record
· Previous experience operang hydrovac or vacuum trucks is an asset (training available for the right candidate)
· Knowledge of underground utility locating and safe excavaon pracces
· Ability to read plans and use basic computer systems
· Strong mechanical aptude and problem-solving skills
· Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work
· Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset
· Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
Compensaon & Benefits
· Overtime paid at time and a half (1.5×) for work performed between 5:00 PM and 6 AMas well as on weekends
· $150 on-call premium when assigned to on-call duty
· Per diem provided for out-of-town or overnight work
· Statutory holidays in accordance with Ontario regulaons
· Benefits and pension plan available following the probaon period
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
