Position Summary
Pathways Academy is seeking a passionate and innovative Part-Time Elementary Teacher (K–9) to join our growing team. This position is ideal for educators who understand the unique opportunities and challenges of home-based learning and who are committed to supporting students and families in a remote environment.
Successful candidates will be organized, self-directed, adaptable, and enthusiastic lifelong learners who can foster meaningful relationships with students and parents while supporting a wide range of learning needs. Our elementary teachers work closely with families to develop individualized learning plans, recommend resources, monitor student progress, and provide ongoing encouragement and instructional support.
Because many of our students have Inclusive Education designations, experience and specialized training in supporting diverse learners important. Pathways Academy invests in the development of its teaching staff and recognizes that becoming an effective home-learning teacher requires significant training and mentorship.
Professional Growth Opportunity
Pathways Academy is committed to developing exceptional educators who are equipped to support students and families in a highly individualized home-learning environment. Teachers typically require two to three years of training, mentorship, and experience to develop the breadth of knowledge and skills necessary for a full-time role within our school.
Key Responsibilities

Support and mentor home-learning families in implementing individualized educational programs.
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with students and parents through virtual communication.
- Create, monitor, and adapt personalized learning plans based on student strengths, needs, and goals.
- Recommend and explain a wide range of educational resources, programs, and instructional strategies suitable for home learning.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback, assessment, and reporting.
- Support students with diverse learning profiles, including those with Inclusive Education designations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices for online and home-based learning.
- Facilitate learning across multiple grade levels and subject areas.
- Maintain accurate records and meet all school and Ministry reporting requirements.
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training related to home learning, inclusive education, and Pathways Academy's educational model.
Required Qualifications-
Valid BC Teaching Certificate.
- Demonstrated understanding of elementary education and child development.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with technology and online communication tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to support multi-age and cross-curricular learning.
Compensation:
- Contract teachers: $1736 - $2392 per FTE
