Sunder Lumber is a growing supplier of lumber, building materials, and construction products. We serve contractors, builders, developers, and homeowners by providing quality products, competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and strong customer service.
We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to help grow our customer base, build long-term relationships, and generate new sales opportunities.
Position Overview
This position is ideal for someone who is confident speaking with customers, developing new business, following up on leads, and closing sales.
The role will have a strong commission-based component, meaning earning potential will be directly connected to sales performance. Base pay will depend on the successful candidate’s previous experience, knowledge of the construction industry, customer relationships, and sales ability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, developers, renovators, and other construction professionals.
- Generate new business through phone calls, emails, job-site visits, referrals, networking, and in-person customer outreach.
- Follow up on leads, quotes, and potential sales opportunities.
- Prepare accurate customer quotes and process orders.
- Assist customers with lumber, building material, and construction product inquiries.
- Recommend appropriate products based on customer needs, project requirements, and budgets.
- Contact existing customers to identify upcoming projects and additional sales opportunities.
- Monitor local construction activity and identify prospective customers.
- Work closely with purchasing, yard, delivery, and administrative staff to ensure orders are accurate and completed on time.
- Maintain organized records of customer contacts, quotes, orders, and follow-up activities.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Meet or exceed individual sales and revenue targets.
- Represent Sunder Lumber & Building Supplies professionally in the community and construction industry.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, construction, lumber, or building materials is preferred.
- Knowledge of lumber, plywood, drywall, insulation, roofing, siding, hardware, or other construction materials is an asset.
- Existing relationships within the construction or contractor industry are considered a strong asset.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable making outbound sales calls and approaching prospective customers.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and results-oriented.
- Able to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to prepare quotes and complete basic construction-related calculations.
- Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, and sales or inventory software.
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation may be required for customer and job-site visits.
Paid Trial Period
The successful candidate will begin with a paid introductory trial period of approximately two weeks.
During this period, we will evaluate:
- Communication and customer service skills.
- Sales initiative and ability to generate leads.
- Follow-up and organizational skills.
- Reliability and professionalism.
- Ability to learn our products, pricing, and sales processes.
- Overall fit with the company and sales team.
Continued employment and the final compensation structure will be confirmed following successful completion of the trial period.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on the successful candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, existing customer relationships, and demonstrated sales ability.
This position will include:
- Experience-based base pay.
- A strong commission-based compensation component.
- Performance incentives based on sales results.
- Significant earning potential for a motivated representative who can develop new business and grow customer accounts.

Pay: $15.00-$40.00 per hour
