MGIS is seeking an Intermediate Compensation Consultant to provide financial administration and payrolling support services in Kingston, Ontario. In this role, you will assist in the processing, verification, and administration of financial claims in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and financial policies.
You will help enhance operational effectiveness by ensuring accurate and timely claims processing while providing responsive service to managers and staff. This is a contract position with a level of effort of 150 days, with a hybrid on-site schedule of approximately three days per week.Key responsibilities
- Initiate, process, verify, and finalize electronic and manual claims, ensuring all required supporting documentation is complete and accurate
- Process travel, relocation, and other employee claims using approved systems including electronic claims platforms and Claims X, in accordance with applicable policies
- Administer cost comparisons and provide financial findings to support operations
- Respond to routine enquiries from managers, staff, and suppliers regarding financial procedures, transaction status, and documentation requirements
- Process travel-related arrangements including flight bookings using approved travel management systems such as AMEX GBT/NEO when required
- Ensure proper information management practices are followed, including safeguarding, filing, and retention of financial and administrative records in accordance with security and privacy requirements
- Attend mandatory training, professional development activities, and system-specific training related to financial administration duties
- Perform other related payrolling and administrative duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- Intermediate-level experience in compensation, financial administration, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience processing financial claims, travel claims, or employee reimbursements in an administrative environment
- Familiarity with financial administration legislation, policies, and procedures (e.g., the Financial Administration Act or equivalent)
- Experience using electronic claims or financial management systems
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English; must be able to communicate without assistance
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret-level security clearance
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with travel management systems such as AMEX GBT/NEO or similar platforms
- Experience working in a government, military, or regulated financial environment
- Familiarity with Treasury Board financial policies or public sector claims processing
- Experience with records and information management in a security-conscious environment
Working conditions
- On-site in Kingston, ON, approximately three days per week; schedule to be agreed upon in advance
- Core hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
- No travel requirements associated with this contract
- Office space, furniture, and standard IT equipment provided on-site
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
