Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while assisting veterinarians in various clinical procedures. This position requires a strong commitment to animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis. (Collections- all labs are sent out to IDEXX)
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor and record animal vital signs and behavior.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthesia induction and recovery monitoring.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with veterinary protocols.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments.
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures related to veterinary medicine.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately in various situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and pharmacology is preferred.
