Wash Plant Operator / Equipment Operator Overview
We are seeking a reliable and versatile Wash Plant Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating our mat wash plant during active jobs, while also supporting other areas of the operation when the plant is not running.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, capable of operating a variety of equipment, and comfortable taking the lead on the wash plant when required. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys a mix of plant operation, equipment work, and driving, rather than a single repetitive role.
Duties
- Operate and monitor the wash plant to ensure efficient cleaning of mats and consistent production
- Lead and coordinate a small crew during wash plant operations
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on plant equipment
- Operate heavy equipment such as wheel loaders and skid steers to support plant and yard operations
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving mats and materials
- Support general operations when the wash plant is not running, including equipment operation and labour tasks
- Assist with trucking when required (if licensed)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all safety protocols
- Document operational issues and communicate with supervisors and maintenance personnel
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working on drilling rigs is considered an asset
- Experience with boilers, centrifuges, and shakers is considered an asset
- Ability to operate a wheel loader and/or skid steer is preferred
- Class 1 driver’s license is a strong asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to lead and manage a small crew effectively
- Willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the team
- Ability to work long hours when required
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

We’re looking for someone who can run the wash plant and lead a crew when needed, while also stepping into other roles — operating equipment, helping in the yard, or driving truck — to stay productive during slower periods.
This is not a single-function position. The right candidate will be adaptable, dependable, and willing to do what’s needed to keep operations moving.
Pay: $36.00-$40.00 per hour
