Job Description
The Mass Properties Specialist/Engineer collects, organizes, and controls, sub-system and component data on Space, Weight and Power (SWaP). The primary responsibility of the Mass Properties Specialist/Engineer is to ensure that SWaP data is current, accurate and change controlled. The Mass Properties Specialist/Engineer supports control of SWaP at the system level by developing and managing SWaP allocations at the subsystem level.
Key Job Elements:

Develop and maintain SWaP databases, mass property metrics and vehicle power budget allocations

Create weight targets, estimate and track part/assembly weights allocations at vehicle, system and sub-system levels

Monitor and report SWaP data, address adverse SWaP trends and develop/assess Corrective Actions (CAs) for the assigned Program

Gather, maintain and analyze transportability data in accordance with National, International, and Military standards

Support the development and implementation of SWAP and transportability in processes and tools, and identify opportunities for process improvement

Train and educate personnel in GDLS-C SWAP process and tool methodology
-
Perform Engineering calculations in support of SWaP and transportability performance allocations to requirements

Perform impact analysis of SwAP and transportability requirements changes
-
Develop vehicle ballast plans and ballast concepts for vehicle production and test activities

Develop checkpoint and design milestone artifacts and ensure technical accuracy and completeness
Required Qualifications:
-
University Degree or College Diploma in a related field
-
Minimum 3 years relevant experience

Ability to read, interpret, and critique Engineering and vendor drawings
-
An understanding of the general concepts of quality systems, defect detection, defect analysis and reporting

Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills
-
Effective planning, analytical and negotiation skills
-
Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications and other engineering software
-
Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
Preferred Qualifications:

P. Eng or the ability to obtain a P. Eng
