About the role:
The Manager, Birthing Unit, Post Partum, & Prenatal Clinic, as a leader and member the Maternal Child program, is responsible and accountable for the operational, clinical, and strategic leadership of the Birthing and Post-Partum Units, and the Prenatal Clinic. The Manager provides leadership to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, promote best practices, and ensure effective transitions for patients and families.
The Manager fosters a culture of quality, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement while supporting staff, physicians, midwives, and interprofessional teams in the delivery of evidence-informed care. Working collaboratively with patients, families, staff, physicians, midwives, internal and external partners, the Manager contributes to care planning, patient flow, and service excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate operational effectiveness and a commitment to leading quality improvement and transformation across all clinical environments.
This is a replacement position.
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for the coordination and delivery of all patient care-related activities
- All staff assigned to the clinical area report directly to the clinical manager regarding patient care and staffing issues
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative work environment
- Promote a culture of quality, patient safety, continuous improvement, and evidence-informed practice
- Role model professional and organizational core competencies
- Monitor and achieve departmental quality, patient experience, and operational performance indicators
- Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based outcome-oriented changes in clinical practices and care delivery processes.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and planning to support operational and strategic goals.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred
- Registered in good standing with a Regulated College
- Membership in professional affiliations as appropriate
- Minimum of three (3) years recent experience in a healthcare administrative or leadership position preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years recent and relevant clinical experience in an acute Maternal/Child setting required
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, communication, team building, facilitation and coaching skills that encourage positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
- Ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, decision making and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates clear understanding and application of RHPA.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional development
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, support and critical analysis in stressful, complex clinical and emotional situations.
- Ability to analyse research and implement evidence-based practice into Policy and Procedure development & clinical practice.
