The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is seeking exemplary leaders who are interested in Catholic leadership and in advancing the board's vision and mission. Successful candidates will be placed in a Principal/Vice-Principal pool for the 2026-2027 school year and as positions become available, may be eligible for placement. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate that they possess personal leadership resources and leadership practices found in the Ontario Catholic School Level Leadership Framework. They will effectively promote and support student achievement, well-being and fulfillment of the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, lead professional learning communities, and be dedicated to ensuring safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environments.
Requirements
In addition to the qualifications required under the Education Act and its Regulations, applicants must possess the following:

Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification

Principal's Qualification Program Part 1 and/or Part II OR Proof of Enrolment
-
Religious Education Part II (completed by September 2026) or a letter of equivalency from the OECTA/OCSTA Coordinator of Religious Studies
-
Special Education, Part I is strongly recommended
-
Demonstrated leadership experience in the areas of instruction and assessment
-
Active participation in their Catholic parish faith community
-
Specialist qualifications in two fields of study or credits towards a Master's degree is considered an asset
Successful applicants will have demonstrated:

A clear vision of the mission of a Catholic school, a deep-rooted sense of the philosophy and traditions of Catholic education, and a commitment to Catholic education throughout the person's career;

An ability to promote student achievement and well-being through a respectful, equitable and caring environment, as demonstrated through the treatment of others, and through a positive, fair and effective approach to progressive discipline based on Gospel values;

Knowledge and application of the competencies and personal resources of the Ontario Catholic School Leadership Framework and how these inform daily practice;

Commitment to closing the achievement gap through research-based and current instructional practices, and an understanding of the use of data to improve instruction and student learning particularly in the areas of literacy and mathematics;

A commitment to supporting and promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner;
- An ability to engage the school community in professional learning communities, and in the rigorous evaluation of school effectiveness, in collaboration with the Board's leadership team;
- Demonstrated experience nurturing and setting direction in instruction, curriculum and assessment in a variety of priority areas including: Indigenous Education, French as a Second Language (FSL/CEFR), Special Education, Equity and Inclusion, and other areas;

A flexible and welcoming approach, visibility in the wider community, proven problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills as it relates to students, staff, parents, board stakeholders and the broader community;

Demonstrated system experience and/or school teacher designate experience with a strong commitment to the school and Board community;

A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated successful teaching experience in two or more divisions, preferably in the province of Ontario.

External candidates must submit a recent and satisfactory Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening;

Current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualifications;

PQP Part 1 and/or PQP Part 2 Certificate OR Proof of Enrolment;

A one-page reflection on effective Catholic School Leadership.
