What You Will Contribute
Our growing service department is seeking Mechanics with great technical and problem-solving skills to join our team and help us in meeting our commitment of “Service Anywhere, Anytime”.
The Mechanic position, services, maintains, and repairs all systems on a fire truck. These systems include multiplexed electrical, water pumps, hydraulic aerial ladders, and plumbing. Frequently, our customers are asking us to perform additional services to maximize the benefit of taking their apparatus out of service for repair and maintenance.
What You Will Do
- Perform service, testing and repair of fire-rescue vehicles and equipment
- Perform pre-delivery inspections of new vehicles
- Review assigned work orders with the Foreman and maintaining detailed records
- Diagnose faults/malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of malfunction and the type and scope of repair required
- Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand/power tools
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications and company quality standards
- Clean, lubricate and perform other preventative maintenance on equipment
- Test driving vehicles to review performance and verify repairs
- Ensure cleanliness of property, equipment and vehicles
- Documenting and submitting time sheets via computerized systems
What You Will Need
- Red Seal Certification in Truck and transport or Industrial Mechanic Trade (or similar)
- 5+ years of Mechanical experience providing outstanding results
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components
- Willingness to learn new and innovative technologies
- Achieve and hold Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification’s throughout employ (Company Supported Program)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Basic knowledge of current computer software and electronic systems
- Familiarity with OEM and aftermarket diagnostic tools and software
- Results driven without compromising quality
- Able to take accountability for tasks and execute flawlessly
- High level of ethics, values, integrity, and trust
- Valid BC Driver ’s License with air brake endorsement or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment
- You must hold a valid passport and be able to travel to the USA
