ABOUT OSCP
One Silicon Chip Photonics (OSCP) builds MEMS and photonic inertial measurement units (IMUs) in Montréal. Our sensors keep drones, robots, aircraft, and vessels navigating when GNSS is jammed or denied — designed and made in Canada. We're scaling from R&D to production, and we hire engineers who can carry a product across that line.
WHERE WE NEED HELP
These are the areas we're hiring into. They share one mission (get our IMUs into the real world) and one core: hands-on work, real ownership, and products that ship. If any, or all, of these are a fit for you, we want to hear from you. You don't need to check every box in one area, and our best engineers bridge two or three.
EMBEDDED & FIRMWARE
Own firmware for our IMU product line — drivers, communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART), board bring-up, and the hooks that make production test and calibration fast.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Build software that lives next to real hardware — low-level device interfaces, sensor-fusion and navigation pipelines, and the applications customers use to configure, test, and integrate our products.
ELECTRONICS & PCB
Take boards from schematic to production — layout, bring-up, debugging, DFM, and the test fixtures that let us build in volume without losing quality.
PHOTONICS & OPTICS
Develop photonic sensors — optical assembly, alignment, and characterization — and the repeatable processes that take a design from lab bench to production.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own a slice of the product end to end: a subsystem, a codebase, or a process
- Take designs from prototype to production as we scale
- Test, measure, and iterate on real hardware in the lab
- Support customer integrations: your work ends up on drones, robots, vehicles, and vessels
- Work shoulder to shoulder with a small team of hardware, firmware, and test engineers
- Document so the team can scale: designs, drivers, and procedures
WHO YOU ARE
Someone who ships. You've built things that left the bench — products, systems, or code that someone else depends on.
- Degree or technical diploma in engineering, physics, or a related field, or the portfolio that makes it irrelevant
- Strong C/C++ and/or Python (weighted by area)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience shipping real products (senior especially welcome in Photonics & Optics)
- Comfortable owning open-ended problems in a small team
- Bonus: navigation, inertial sensing, robotics, or aerospace background
WHAT WE OFFER
- Work on photonic IMUs almost no one else is building
- Real ownership: a small team where your name is on what ships
- Competitive salary, sized to area and experience
HOW TO APPLY
In your application, tell us which area(s) fit you — one, a few, or all — and include a link to something you built (GitHub, publications, a product, a project). Applications that don't name an area or include a link won't make the first cut. Reviewed on a rolling basis.
