HerRecovery is an in-patient addiction treatment center located in Glendon, Alberta. We offer on-site services and accommodation to women with/without children. Her Recovery offers on-site childcare and we are looking for ECE to join our team!
Summary
Early childhood educators (ECEs) level 2 work with young children from birth to adolescent. They create and run educational programs that fuel children’s intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth.

Job Duties
The job duties and responsibilities for the Early Childhood Educator shall include but are not limited to the
following and any other duties assigned by the Childcare Director/Executive Director.
· Respond with sensitivity to the needs of individual children and their families, respecting diversities in age, sex, developmental level, religion, sexual orientation, and cultural background.
· Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
· Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
· Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
· Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties.
· Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
· Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
· Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
· Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
· provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
· Respect the culture of all children.
· Take part in professional development.
· Administer first aid and medication within scope of training.
· Read, understand, and abide by all policies of Her Recovery Child Care Centre, including emergency, fire, serious occurrence, prohibited practices and child abuse procedures.
· Observe and record relevant information on each child’s progress as required as per the Centre’s policies and practices.
· Be ready for work in the daycare by the start of your shift, having your personal belonging put away, and in the room/playground ready to work. This includes dressing and/or preparing for the scheduled activity and the weather.
· Create supplies list as needed, with purchasing from childcare director.
· Plan and prepare snacks with an awareness of healthy choices & licensing requirements.
· Participate in maintaining accurate and complete records and other administrative tasks.
· Observe and assess children’s progress and behaviour to ensure programs meet identified individual and group needs. Meet with Supervisor to discuss recommendation of referral of to outside agencies for special needs.
· Discuss children’s progress/behaviour/health with parents/facility staff as necessary.
· Regularly evaluate the program to ensure it meets the needs of individual children and the needs of the group; set goals and meet licensing criteria; Quality First checklist, public health guidelines.
· Before leaving you must have completed all final documentation, daycare cleanup, sanitization and any preparation required for the next day.
Requirements
· Registered Early Childhood Education Certificate LEVEL 2
· Valid Standard First Aid Training and Level “C” CPR
· Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector
· Intervention Record Check
· Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with parents, staff, and children.
· Familiarly with theories and practices of behavioral therapy, child development, and parent- child relationships.
· Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances.
· Must have strong crisis management abilities and be able to maintain a cool composure in times of crisis.
· Must have strong administrative and time management skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00-$28.00 per hour
