Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic finance leader to oversee and lead the organization’s full finance function. Reporting to ownership, this role provides strategic financial leadership while maintaining accountability for the day-to-day execution of accounting operations.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to leadership, helping guide financial strategy, support operational decision-making, strengthen financial performance, and prepare the organization for continued growth. At the same time, this individual must be comfortable remaining actively involved in the details of the finance function, including financial reporting, controls, payroll and team leadership.
The organization operates within a complex, project-driven environment where accurate job costing, project and division profitability analysis, inventory management, cash flow planning, and operational reporting are critical to success. Experience within construction, manufacturing, contracting, field services, or similarly complex operational industries will be highly valued.
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing, multi-entity organization at an exciting point in its evolution. Significant investments in systems, reporting capabilities, process improvement, and business growth are planned over the coming years, and this role will play a central leadership role in guiding that transformation.
Key Responsibilities
· Director of Finance & Business Leadership: Lead the organization’s overall finance strategy and financial operations. Partner with leadership to support growth, profitability, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making. Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, performance reporting, and business analysis while translating financial information into actionable operational and strategic insight.
· Financial Stewardship & Controller Responsibilities: Oversee and maintain overall responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function, including financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll, job costing, work-in-progress tracking, and internal controls. Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information across multiple entities and business units.
· Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Establish clear expectations, build accountability, strengthen capabilities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
· Systems & Organizational Transformation: Lead major finance systems, reporting, automation, and process improvement initiatives. Champion modernization of the finance function through technology, data, and scalable business processes that support future growth.
· Compliance & Governance: Maintain strong accounting policies, internal controls, compliance processes, and audit readiness while supporting increasingly sophisticated operational and financial requirements.

· 8–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
· Strong Controller-level technical accounting capabilities combined with strategic business acumen.
· Construction, contracting, field service, or other project-based industry experience strongly preferred.
· Experience with job costing, profitability analysis, work-in-progress reporting, inventory management, and operational performance metrics is considered a significant asset.
· Experience operating within a multi-entity or operationally complex environment.
· Experience leading financial systems implementations, ERP projects, reporting enhancements, or organizational transformation initiatives.
